Part 2 – Mendoza: Uco Valley & Zuccardi Piedra Infinita

Leaving the energy of Buenos Aires behind, our journey continued west to Mendoza—the heart of Argentina’s wine country. Known for its sweeping vineyards, striking mountain views, and world-class hospitality, Mendoza delivers an experience that is as refined as it is relaxed.

Into the Uco Valley

Our first full day began with a scenic drive by private transportation from Mendoza into the Uco Valley, one of the most breathtaking wine regions in the world. The Andes Mountains rose dramatically in the distance as we approached Zuccardi’s Piedra Infinita, a modern architectural masterpiece built to reflect the rocky soils that give this land its name.

The tasting experience was exceptional. Each pour revealed the purity and character of high-altitude Malbec, grown in limestone-rich soils that define the region’s terroir. The wines were elegant, expressive, and paired perfectly with the views—miles of vineyards set against snow-capped peaks.

Lunch Among the Vines

After the tasting, we continued to Los Tilos, a hidden gem where we enjoyed a leisurely two-hour outdoor lunch surrounded by vineyards and framed by panoramic views of the Andes. The menu highlighted seasonal ingredients from local farms, complemented by crisp white wines and soft reds that captured the valley’s essence. The unhurried pace, warm breeze, and good company made it one of those long, memorable lunches that defines travel in Mendoza.

A Perfect Finish at Alfa Crux

Our final stop of the day was Alfa Crux, a stunning estate known for its bold architecture and equally bold wines. Here, we sampled their signature blends—rich, layered, and expressive of the southern Uco Valley’s distinct personality. As the afternoon light softened over the vineyards, we couldn’t help but raise one last glass to what had truly been a perfect day: perfect weather, perfect company, and the perfect introduction to Mendoza’s wine country.

Looking Ahead

With our first day in Mendoza behind us, the group was eager to explore even more of what this region has to offer. The next part of our journey would take us north to Luján de Cuyo, where iconic wineries like Catena Zapata, Matervini, and Casa Vigil awaited.
